Impasto is an object-based painting app: shapes, text, and effects stay editable after you draw them. It builds on solid layers and tool options, a faster overall workflow, snapping to the grid, and fully remappable keyboard shortcuts.
It started as a GitHub fork of Pinta, the MIT-licensed painting app, and was also inspired by PDN, a Windows paint program.
Prebuilt Linux binaries are on the releases page. The Flatpak is at FlatPark. The AppImage is for newer distributions.
A native Windows build is published with every release. It is unsigned, so SmartScreen may warn you - click "More info" then "Run anyway" to continue.
Windows downloadA native macOS build is published with every release. It is unsigned, so Gatekeeper will block it - right-click (or Control-click) the app and choose "Open" the first time.
